Aitutaki

If you are planning a tropical holiday at a beautiful resort in Aitutaki, then you’ll need to come prepared for a whole lot of rest and relaxation. While your hosts will be able to meet your needs once you are there, and give you the time you need to unwind and regenerate, a little preparation from you before you get there won’t hurt either. Once you’re booked and set to go you can use this list to check you have everything you’ll need to enjoy your stay.

Let’s start with the basics. Sometimes the most obvious things are the bits we forget! Remember of course that you’ll need your passport to get there, and then a great place to store it once you arrive, ready to take it home again. Pack your wallet, and make sure you have both cash and cards to pay for things. If you explore further afield, many places will not take credit so cash will be needed. Make sure you’ve stored your house keys with your passport, and you’ll probably need to pack a cell phone charger with your phone even if you don’t plan to check it while on holiday. (It can come in useful as an alarm or even just as a clock.)

You are going to need some beach wear, and include a t shirt and sarong, especially if you are going into town, away from the resort in Aitutaki. It’s important to respect the locals, who feel it’s culturally inappropriate to saunter around in public with only a swimsuit on. A hat is an important addition to keep out the sun as well as footwear. Some people like to bring beach shoes to protect their feet in the water. You’ll also need a warmer light sweater and long trousers should a cool change appear. There is nothing worse than shivering on a holiday! Pack a pair of your favourite glasses and you are ready to relax!

Sunscreen is an important addition to protect your skin, and it’s a good idea to being a good moisturiser, and shampoo for your hair after it’s been in the sea water a few times. You may also want to bring insect repellant and a mosquito spray or cream in case you do get a bite here or there.

If you are active, or have children, squeeze in a frisbee or a bucket and spade for on the move entertainment. You may also want to pack a few emergency board games and a few of your favourite DVD’s. You can never go wrong with a pile of trashy novels to perfect the holiday, and make the most of your resort in Aitutaki
